Chamber Music Evening – Thursday 17 May

from 5.00

The Veles Ensemble, featuring our very own string teacher, Ralitsa Naydenova, aim to explore rarely heard masterpieces and new compositions as well as bringing fresh vitality to well-known classical repertoire.

The first half will feature contemporary music, including Steve Elcock’s String Trio and the UK premiere of a new work by Texas-based composer David Swick, Breathing Strings. We are delighted to be welcoming David to the school on the day to lead an assembly about the genesis of this piece and his creative process.

In the second half the ensemble will perform Mozart’s exhilarating Divertimento in E flat major, the only chamber work he composed for a string trio. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear this unique piece in the intimacy of our beautiful Main Hall.
